The Verdict is In!

So as many of you know, Chris and I went for our last ultrasound appointment to find out what we're having.  And the verdict is in, we'll be expecting...A GIRL!

Here are a couple picture from the ultrasound.  This one is a profile picture of our little girl.
We had the ultrasound tech check twice so we were totally clear that we were having a girl.  I 've known 2 people who were told they were having one sex, and it came out another.  But according to the tech, it's pretty clear that we're having a girl. This is a shot of the butt (on the right) with the legs sticking out.  Needless to say...the picture told us pretty clearly that we were having a girl.

So I wasn't doing the whole monthly bump pictures because I felt really lame taking pictures of my stomach.  I felt truely awkward even posing for this picture, but am posting for the people who have asked for bump photos.  haha

That's it for now!  :)

The First Magical Pregnant Moment

On June 29th, Chris and I went to the doctor for our longest appointment yet.  I was poked and prodded for blood samples, and other things to check things out.  All very uneventful, but the best part of this was our first ultrasound since the one we received at 5 1/2 weeks.  I was so excited to see how much the little mushroom had grown since when we saw it at 5 1/2 weeks...it looked just like that.  A mushroom.

In order to not let the ultrasound tech be rude to us again (like she was the first time) I prepped Chris ahead of time to make sure that he didn't say that the ultrasound looked "creepy" (like he did the first time)...or not to get so excited that the baby would share the same birthday as Howard Stern's.  Luckily, we got a tech that was a LOT nicer and helped to not make me want to have my propped up legs kick her in the face.  And we discovered that the baby would NOT share Howard Stern's birthday, but actually be born a week ahead of time on January 7th.

Here are a couple pics to share that came out the clearest:

At one point, the technician held the ultrasound do-hickey thing on one spot of my belly and you could literally see the baby moving all around!  The crazy thing was moving it's arms and legs all over the place!  At one point, Chris exclaimed, "You can't feel that at all?!"  It was pretty crazy that I couldn't either, and for the first time in this whole annoying nausea & constipation-filled pregnancy (yea...I said it!), this was the first time I had that movie-scene single tear trickle down the side of my face.  It was my first magical pregnant moment.

Well...here it is!

People have been asking me for some time, what happened to my blog?  How come I never keep up my blog anymore?  Well, since my previous blog was titled, "Surviving Philly", after 4 years...it's pretty clear that I've successfully survived Philly.

Since making the cross-country move, I've managed to (not in any particular order): make some fantastic friends, get hitched & acquire some pretty great new family members, add 2 awesome dogs to our house-hold (Philly & Cali), buy a home, and finally, make it a home.

Needless to say, there's been quite a bit going on...but nothing that I felt was blog-worthy.  But with our recent life-changes, I finally have something that I feel would be worthy in sharing to our friends and family who are both near and far.

Chris & I will be expecting our first child!
Kid-Smith is scheduled to arrive Jan. 7, 2012

So the purpose of this blog is to update our friends and family, near and far, about this new kid, and our growing family.  Please check back soon for updates!
